Parents and teachers

I was a psychiatrist for 35 yrs. I am concerned for the welfare of all our children - never more so than in the present culture. Childhood and adolescence cannot be repeated and traumatic experiences and their subsequent effects and beliefs can have negative influence within a person for the rest of life. I know this is NOT what you want to happen - children's wellbeing must be a first priority.

I have written three poetry books for the benefit of all children and teenagers using my many years of experience working in the psychotherapeutic field, These three books are NOT primarily to make money - however odd or different that may seem. I have willingly used my mother's legacy to get them printed, but they must 'pay for themselves'. The individual prices are very reasonable for the quality of the paper etc, but extremely cheap for the amount of value for your children and teenagers. I have put a directory of the poems in each book on the relevant pages - on this you will find a brief resume of each poem, its content, purpose and deeper meaning and therefore the use in the classroom and at home.

NB :£1 for each of these three books that is sold is being given to 'The Smile Train' - a charity whose surgeons repair cleft palates of children in the poor countries of the world- thus changing their lives forever.

There are REVIEWS to read on this site - from people of varying experiences and ages.

Please browse the rest of the site for more information - about the books, me - the author, the artist etc. Visit my interactive children's site to hear the poems and songs - created from the poems. Read the stories - at

  www.primaryschoolpoems.com

The poems and stories are written with the intention of helping children, through therapeutic, metaphorical and meaningful messages eg the story 'The Young Dragon' is about learning to control anger, 'The Girl who had everything' shows that material possessions are not the key way to happiness, 'The Little Squirrel 'is about grief, and 'The story of Great' is about learning to make the best choices .

Visit the site for teenagers on    www.secondaryschoolpoems.co.uk

This website has been designed by teenagers for teenagers on my behalf. Not only does it tell of the 'Choice for Teenagers' book - 129 poems written specifically to address the 'issues' of teenage years, but visitors to the site can hear a small selection of the poems. It gives other useful information .

I am well aware that many families will not buy poetry books for their children! I have written this letter to Headteachers and PSHE co-ordinators. When the books are bought for school use, then these children will not miss out - my aim is to have at least one book in every school, if not in every family where English is spoken or understood.

When you read this page, could you please download, then save and print out the 'Letter to Headteachers' file and distribute it to the appropriate person regarding your child or teenager.

Thank you on behalf of children everywhere.
