About the artist - David S Earnshaw

David S Earnshaw is a Yorkshire artist - specialising in water colour painting. His considerable talent is used to paint many scenes of rural England. He exhibits and sells his pictures in Yorkshire.

He is the eldest brother of Dr Audrey Coatesworth and he has painted 26 delightful pictures for the gentle metaphorical story poems of Dr Coatesworth's children's poetry book - 'Growing up'. They are the perfect accompaniments to the primary school poems.

He spent his working life as a timber merchant - his artistic talent had to lay dormant until he had the time to paint - in retirement.

Some of the items in the pictures are 'authentically reproduced' -ie the doll's house is the actual doll's house in the poem and the cottage in 'Aunt Polly's gift' - is the cottage in which their Aunt Polly lived. No one who knew their grandma could mistake the lady gardening in ' Little things'.

Most children between 8yrs and 14 yrs of age would love this book and benefit from the gentle messages.
